Is now the time for a few good men and women to stand as independants with a view to breaking the two party deadlock and restoring some sanity and democracy back into government?

HI Marley,

To stand as an MP requires a £2000 surety and also you must be a citizen of the UK.

Candidates should have a broad base of issues to to campaign on as single issues do not do well.

I am thinking about a 'Co-operative' of potential independants contributing to a pool to raise money for the best candidates to be put forward by democratic vote to be re-evaluated at each election. I consider that a good incentive to remain independant.

I have not worked out the details yet and am happy to receive any suggestions as to a charter to 'run' the co-operative a name and an idea of what independants wish to run for. the only definate at the moment is that candidates should run with the peoples wishes and not a provided agenda.

Hi Soapy, whats this £2000 surety thing all about, is that to keep the poor rubbing rags out of the race to holy grail of gravy trains?

Apologies for the long delay, what with family issues and Ranti hunting i've been a little tied up!

That is one way of putting it, they originally thouhgt that if you could not raise the surety then you did not have the means to work as an MP, originally they were all gentlemen, landowners ect. NO room room at the inn for the working man!
